Renowned for the iconic MA-1 bomber jacket, Alpha Industries joined forces with digital artisan EEPMON and premium streetwear boutique RIME NYC to create a 3-way collaboration resulting in 128 MA-1 limited-edition pieces of wearable art. Titled “Jungle Out There,” the project expresses a “NYC concrete jungle” theme, merging Eastern and Western zodiacs into a single, reversible garment. The jacket made its official debut at ComplexCon on November 4th, 2017.
The collaboration gained significant industry recognition, being featured on HYPEBEAST and receiving the Applied Arts 2018 Award for Illustration for Retail Application.
Background:
The project grew out of a long-standing friendship between Susan Boyle and EEPMON. During a meeting, a conversation about zodiacs inspired the artist to create the lion and monkey portraits in his signature style. The lion was a tribute to Boyle’s “wild” spirit and hair, while the monkey reflected EEPMON’s own identity. This personal connection evolved into a commercial partnership that brought a “Made in Canada” artistic perspective to the heart of New York’s streetwear scene and Alpha Industries’ global heritage.
The “Jungle Out There” jacket was launched at the Alpha Industries booth at ComplexCon, with EEPMON on-site for the release, and was made available in limited quantities through RIME’s online store
The design features a slim-fit, reversible MA-1 silhouette. The light golden side showcases a fierce monkey portrait, representing EEPMON’s Chinese zodiac, while the dark chocolate side features a lion, representing RIME founder Susan Boyle’s astrological sign, Leo. Each jacket includes a custom laser-cut mirror acrylic keychain, engraved with its specific edition number out of the 128 produced.
