National Ambassador Appointment:
Navy Bike Ride 2026

For Immediate Release: The Royal Canadian Navy has officially named its National Ambassadors for the 2026 – Navy Bike Ride, selecting leaders who embody the spirit of community and resilience. This year, the initiative is championed by National Ambassador EEPMON, working to inspire Canadians to support the well-being of the naval community through active participation.

The Mission
The Navy Bike Ride (NBR) is a signature event that fosters a sense of camaraderie and fitness within the Royal Canadian Navy and the Canadian public. Since its inception in 2016, the ride has served as a vital fundraiser, with proceeds benefitting key military charities, including the Navalis Foundation, Support Our Troops, and Soldier On. These organizations provide essential relief, recovery, and rehabilitation services for sailors, veterans, and their families.

A Tradition of Resilience
Cycling is deeply rooted in naval culture, traditionally used by sailors to maintain physical and mental health while deployed at sea. The National Ambassadors are tasked with bringing this tradition to the forefront, encouraging participants of all skill levels to join the movement.

The Leader Impact Badge, created in proud support of the Navy Bike Ride, draws inspiration from the naval signal “Bravo Zulu” (BZ)—a traditional flag hoist or radio transmission meaning “well done.”

Utilizing the signature BZ colour palette, the design integrates the EEPMON “mecha” aesthetic with a geometric anchor × heart, symbolizing a steadfast commitment to both social impact and the Royal Canadian Navy.

How to Participate
The 2026 campaign offers multiple ways for the public to engage:

∙ The In-Person Event: A signature ride taking place in Ottawa at Hog’s Back Park.

∙ The Virtual Challenge: A month-long event throughout June, allowing Canadians from coast-to-coast-to-coast to log kilometres and contribute to the cause regardless of their location.

By bridging the gap between the military and civilian populations, the National Ambassadors aim to strengthen the “One Navy Strong” community through every pedal stroke.

Constellations – The Flow of Belonging is a generative art piece by EEPMON that visualizes Canada as a fluid constellation of families, symbolizing the dynamic movement of people and their contributions to the nation’s cultural regeneration. The work transforms transcribed census data from Library and Archives Canada (LAC) into a narrative that explores mobility, diversity, and resilience.

The visualization features flowing patterns and family units that grow brighter and more interconnected over time. Inspired by Norman Takeuchi’s 1970 Expo Bus, which connected diverse communities across Canada, Constellations reimagines this mobility for the digital age. Colours pulse through particle-like connections, representing the cultural and social links forged by communities. By showcasing these groups as constellations of renewal, the piece aligns with themes of multicultural identity and systemic regeneration, offering a perspective on the vast stories found within LAC’s archival collections. Constellations – The Flow of Belonging was exhibited at the Canada Pavilion during Expo 2025 Osaka.

This extension of the project specifically references the Chinese Exclusion Act period (1923-1947). While maintaining the theme of communal interconnectedness, it introduces sharp red strokes to symbolize the dispersal and exclusion of Chinese immigrants during this era. These erratic visuals serve to evoke the volatility of systemic barriers in contrast to the core theme of unity.

Echoes of Silence & Surveillance is a generative motion graphics artwork created by EEPMON during his Creator-in-Residency at Library and Archives Canada. The piece draws on the Register of Chinese Immigrants to Canada (1886–1949), utilizing a dataset from a University of British Columbia (UBC) research project led by Professors Peter Ward and Henry Yu. Using transcribed head tax records, the work exposes the systemic surveillance inherent in Canada’s historical discriminatory immigration policies.

The artwork features randomized, ever-shifting visuals of flashing text that cascade across the screen, evoking the anxiety of relentless bureaucratic oversight. This is juxtaposed with a digital wave symbolizing both the ocean and the pursuit of opportunity. Generative patterns of train tracks weave through the composition, honoring the labor of Chinese individuals in the construction of Canada’s railways. As the generative output never repeats, it reflects the fleeting, silenced voices of individuals, inviting viewers to reflect on their resilience within oppressive systems. It is noted that the dataset’s transcription may contain errors due to the meticulous nature of the historical recording process.
