Created for Part II, Mecha Noh Ryūgū Kozō is the boy from the Dragon Palace, the benevolent water spirit who befriended a village and tragically perished, and whose radiant spirit returns for a final dance. The mask was directly inspired by Mitsue Yuya’s beautifully crafted exclusive mask worn by Sui as Ryūgū Kozō. Built from drawn elements and computer code, created generatively and layered again and again, it translates a living, performed character into a cyberpunk, mecha-style form, without losing the tenderness at the centre of the legend.
