Robert and I originally created Orpheus as a performance for Vancouver Art Gallery’s KRAZY! The Delirious World of Anime + Comics + Video Games + Art Exhibit (May 17th – September 7th, 2008). In its entirety, it is structured loosely around the story of Orpheus – the great poet and musician of Greek mythology who follows his wife Eurydice into the underworld.

On September 30th, 2010 we resurfaced Orpheus for TED× Toronto with completely new illustrations with the addition of music soundscapes composed by Andrew Zealley. Over 100 illustrations were created, composed and programmed exclusively for the performance. Controlled via keyboard, the illustrations follows in tangent with Robert Bolton’s spoken word text and Andrew Zealley’s ambient compositions.

I hand drew over 100 illustrations and were inked in sumi. Video below shows the process of my inking on one of them.
