Open Books 2016

In September 2016, EEPMON’s work was featured in the international group exhibition Open Books: International Artists Explore the Chinese Folding Book. Hosted at Library and Archives Canada in Ottawa, the exhibition marked the Canadian debut of this global touring venture, which had previously visited the United Kingdom, China, Australia, and Hong Kong.

The exhibition focused on the traditional Chinese folding book as a versatile modern art form, bringing together visual artists from China and the West to reinterpret the medium. Curated by Mary Husted, Maggie James, and Maureen A. McTeer, the showcase introduced original material by Canadian artists alongside works by international collaborators. By applying a digital-generative aesthetic to a historical format, the project examined the intersection of ancient craftsmanship and contemporary storytelling within a premier national institution.
