Throughout the month of February 2018, I was part of Mademill’s Artist in Residence (AIR) program in Ottawa, Canada. During this 3-week program I spent my time researching, experimenting and developing new creative processes focusing on Virtual Reality and high end 3D printing technology. The result was successful.

My latest creation was a 3D printed full colour sculpture. Over 200 objects all generated in Python code – even the material colour. We never did this before and suffice to say we were all astounded by the result. The resolution output was incredible.

Having completed my residency, I will be continue to research and develop this new method of creations and achieve a new body of work.

In addition to 3D-printing the code generated model, we were also able to easily import the digital sculpture into Unity 3D software and created a VR experience for the work. The potential is limitless!

SVA NYC Summer Residency
The Intersection of Academia and Urban Energy (Summer, 2013)

In Summer 2013, while living in New York City, I was accepted into the prestigious Illustration & Visual Storytelling Residency Program at the School of Visual Arts (SVA). This wasn’t just a residency; it was an immersion into the global art world, surrounded by the industry’s most influential mentors and peers.

For me, SVA was the “laboratory” where the Synthesis philosophy was refined. While the world was seeing the final product on the shelves of Paris and London, I was in a Manhattan studio, pushing the boundaries of what digital art could become.

Why the SVA Residency is a Legacy Foundation:

∙ Academic Validation: SVA is a world-renowned institution. Being selected for this program was a formal recognition of my technical skill and the depth of my visual storytelling.

∙ The NYC Influence: Living and creating in New York in parallel of my global collaborations provided a unique “High-Tech, High-Touch” energy that only Manhattan can offer.

∙ Studio Mastery: The residency allowed me to step away from the commercial world and focus on the “code-as-craft” aspect of my work, ensuring that my future projects would have a deep, fine-art foundation.

I was a recipient of a 2009 Banff Centre Artist Residency (BAIR). I spent a month up in the Banff mountains to further develop my INTERSECTIONS artistic practice. The works created during my residency period gave way to my solo exhibition at The Ottawa Art Gallery in Canada.
