In November 2013, the Canada Goose × EEPMON Synthesis Parka was officially recognized by the editors of GQ France as one of the “Top 40 Winter Coats” for the season. As the definitive global authority on men’s style, GQ’s selection placed my work at the pinnacle of international outerwear design.

Being curated by GQ France—in the heart of the global fashion capital—was a testament to the Synthesis Parka’s ability to transcend the “art project” label and stand as a world-class garment.

Editorial Recognition
The feature highlighted the parka’s unique balance of rugged Canadian heritage and complex digital artistry. For the editors of GQ, the Synthesis project represented the future of luxury: a garment that offered not only extreme technical performance but also a deep, narrative-driven aesthetic.

NYLON pal Eric Chan A.K.A eepmon has a fine art-meets-computer programmer, medium-melding, genre-bending style that we love. The dude has a resume that boasts things like exhibitions and performances at Yamaha Ginza in Tokyo, hpgrp gallery New York, Ottawa Art Gallery, and at The Guggenheim Museum, for Gutai: Splendid Playground. This year he was awarded an artist residency at the School of Visual Arts here in Manhattan, and to top it off, he’s teamed up with Canada Goose on a new coat.

It doesn’t get much bigger than a collaboration with the 55 year old outerwear aficionados. The coat, dubbed the “Synthesis Parka,” features original eepmon artwork in the lining, custom-dyed topaz coyote fur and artist-designed Arctic Disc. This jacket is quite literally wearable art where the juxtaposition lies within the technology of the construction and the technology used in the featured eepmon art.

Background
NYLON Guys (and its digital blog) was the definitive “alternative” men’s lifestyle destination from 2004 to 2015. While its parent, NYLON, focused on fashion-forward women, NYLON Guys was designed for the “modern, creative man” who was interested in the intersection of high design, street culture, and emerging technology.

During the peak years of its blog (roughly 2008–2014), the site served as a daily discovery engine for what was then called “indie” or “underground” culture.

What the NYLON Guys Blog was about:
The “Cool Hunter” Aesthetic: The blog wasn’t just about mainstream celebrities; it focused on “it-guys” in music, art, and film. They were famous for featuring artists before they went global (featuring people like Pharrell Williams, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Jesse Eisenberg).

Art & Technology: Unlike traditional men’s magazines (like GQ or Esquire), NYLON Guys gave significant real estate to digital artists, illustrators, and tech innovators. They viewed technology not just as “gadgets,” but as a creative medium.

Streetwear & High Fashion: The site bridged the gap between luxury brands and emerging streetwear labels. It was one of the first major publications to treat sneakers and graphic tees with the same editorial respect as high-end tailoring.

Travel & Subculture: They often featured “City Guides” and photo essays that looked at the world through a gritty, urban lens—focusing on local skate scenes, hidden galleries, and underground nightlife in cities like Tokyo, New York, and London.

The Global Benchmark for Digital Excellence

Throughout EEPMON’s career, his work has been a recurring feature in Computer Arts, the world’s leading publication for the professional creative industry. Based in the UK, Computer Arts was the definitive global authority on digital design, and being recognized in its pages was a significant milestone in his professional development.

Featured in Computer Arts Magazine’s March issue pg#19, 2013

EEPMON’s relationship with the magazine began at a pivotal moment in 2008 and evolved alongside his practice:

∙ The Global Graduate Showcase (2008): He was honoured to be the international winner of the Computer Arts Graduate competition, receiving the “Excellence Award” for Illustration. This award served as the launchpad for his professional career, validating his unique intersection of computer science and traditional composition on a global stage.

∙ Professional Commissions (2009): Following the award, EEPMON was commissioned by the editors of Issue #158 to create a custom illustration piece and provide an in-depth interview. This was a transition from “emerging talent” to “professional peer” within the global design community.

∙ The SVA Residency & “Image of the Day” (2013): Later in EEPMON’s career, the magazine continued to track his evolution, featuring his work from the School of Visual Arts (SVA) residency and highlighting his digital-meets-analogue process in their “Image of the Day” and March 2013 features.

For EEPMON, Computer Arts was more than a magazine; it was the gold standard for technical and artistic mastery. These features represent a decade of growth and remain a testament to his commitment to pushing the boundaries of what is possible in the digital medium.

Computer Arts Image of the Day + Interview, 2013

EEPMON, having won the international Computer Arts 2008 Graduate competition, he was given an interview and commissioned to create an illustration piece for issue #158.
