The Moco Loco Era: Modern Contemporary Design

Between 2009 and 2013, EEPMON’s work was frequently curated and featured by Moco Loco, one of the most respected global platforms for modern contemporary design and architecture. In the landscape of early-2010s digital media, Moco Loco was the “Gold Standard” for high-end aesthetics, serving as a daily briefing for architects, interior designers, and professional creators worldwide.

Being featured in Moco’s Flagship Interviews was a significant pivot for EEPMON’s practice. It shifted the conversation from “digital illustration” to “high-end design,” placing his work in a context of functional beauty and technical innovation.

Key milestones captured by Moco Loco included:

Generative Design & Code: They were among the first to deep-dive into EEPMON’s use of computer programming as a fine-art medium, highlighting the “Intersections” of math and art in his projects for Microsoft.

Spatial & Physical Installations: The site’s audience of architects resonated with how EEPMON’s work lived in physical spaces—from his early design projects with MINI to the large-scale presence of his art in the Tokyo gallery scene.

Global Design Bridge: Through their coverage of EEPMON’s Japan-based projects (including work for Dentsu and Yamaha Ginza), Moco Loco framed the EEPMON brand as a sophisticated bridge between North American digital innovation and Japanese minimalist design.

For EEPMON, the Moco Loco features provided “design-first” credibility. They introduced his work to a discerning audience that valued the technical precision behind the art, helping him establish a permanent footprint in the world of high-end lifestyle and architectural design.

In 2011, EEPMON’s work was featured in a massive interactive digital art installation for Scotiabank Nuit Blanche in Toronto. This large-scale public activation transformed the iconic Scotia Plaza into a collaborative canvas, allowing the public to engage directly with the urban environment through their mobile devices.

Participants were invited to contribute to the evolving visual narrative, using their phones to manipulate and project digital elements onto the architecture of the financial district. By integrating generative art with real-time user interaction, the project explored the boundaries between the physical city and the digital realm, turning a high-traffic urban backdrop into a communal creative vision. This exhibition served as a significant example of EEPMON’s early exploration into how technology can bridge the gap between complex digital compositions and public participation.
